The Aim
To deliver a comprehensive electrical installation for Boughey Distribution’s new 240,000 sq ft bespoke distribution centre in Crewe. The project required a full Cat B fit-out, building upon the existing Cat A infrastructure, and integrating advanced systems to support high-volume logistics operations. Key objectives included:
• Extending the Main Distribution System to accommodate increased electrical demand.
• Installing fire alarm systems for full compliance and safety.
• Implementing Busbar trunking and automatic LED lighting in the racked warehouse.
• Providing general power to client machinery and forklift charging stations.
• Modifying and upgrading Cat A installations in the office areas
The Solution
Our team engineered and executed a robust electrical solution tailored to the operational needs of a high-capacity distribution facility:
1. Main Distribution System Extension
• Expanded the existing distribution network to support new warehouse zones and equipment.
• Installed additional switchgear and protective devices to ensure safe load management.

2. Fire Alarm System Installation
• Deployed a fully addressable fire alarm system across warehouse and office areas.
• Integrated smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, and sounders for rapid response.
• Ensured full compliance with BS 5839:Pt1 standards and local fire authority requirements.
3. Busbar Trunking & Warehouse Lighting
• Installed high-capacity Busbar trunking for flexible power distribution across racked aisles.
• Fitted automatic LED lighting with motion sensors to optimize energy usage and visibility.
• Designed lighting layout to enhance safety and operational efficiency in high-storage zones.
4. General Power & Forklift Charging
• Delivered dedicated power circuits for client machinery and operational equipment.
• Installed multiple forklift charging stations with load monitoring and safety cut-offs.
• Provided clean, reliable power distribution to support 24/7 logistics operations.
5. Office Cat A Modifications
• Upgraded existing Cat A installations to meet client-specific layout and usage needs.
• Added power outlets, data points, and lighting controls tailored to office workflows.
• Ensured seamless integration with building management systems and fire safety protocols.
